Where to place a retractable rotary clotheslines.

Space requirements.
Normally we recomend a minimum of 1 meter of space around the complete rotary clothesline to allow for the wind blowing items so they dont rub on fences and such. However this is a guide and as long as you have at least 100mm of space then this will be ok but not recomended.

Height requirements.
Make sure the rotary clothesline will not hit anything like decks or trees at any height the clothesline might be wound up to.
Make sure the clothesline is not to high at its minimum set height for the primary user to reach. If the primary user is on the shorter side then we can cut the column of the clothesline for free in order to set a lower height that is comfortable. This will also lower the height of the handle. We offer this service free with our installation package.
When setting the height, the slope of the ground must be taken into consideration. Always set the height for the primary user at the tip of the arm over the highest point of the ground. You should always hang the washing from the highest point and the clothesline height should be set for that location.

Ground mounting pitfalls.
Absolutely do make sure you have no conduits such as water gas or power within 1 meter of the post locations or within 600mm in depth of the posts.
Make sure you have a minimum of 500mm of soil depth for adequate concrete foundations for your clothesline. If you do have rock, bricks or concrete under or on top of the soil then we can core drill this for you. For an additional cost we can provide you with core drilling when you purchase an installation package from us.
Make sure your soil is not sand. If you have sand then you cannot use a rotary clothesline. You will need to choose either a fold down or a wall to wall retractable clothesline. Over time it will not stay straight in sand.

Location.
Rotary clotheslines are very practical clotheslines for drying mostly because they are out and away from walls etc and get a nice breeze flowing over them.
Be aware that trees can drop branches onto your clothesline. Birds can poop on your clothes. Try not to put a rotary clothesline directly inder a tree if it can be helped. However a tree close by can be good for blocking the sun in summer so that your clothes dont discolour. If you have the space, try to locate the clothesline near a tree that provides some shade in summer but not so much shade in winter as the sun takes a different path.
